Can nurses do psychotherapy?

YES! 👏 "Psychotherapist" is a protected title under the law in Ontario. Similar to my RN title. My regulatory body (College of Nurses of Ontario) is one of only six regulatory professional colleges whose members are allowed to provide the controlled act of psychotherapy. I fulfill my requirement by having additional training in this area.

What is psychotherapy?

The treatment approach I am trained in is called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

 

What is CBT and how does it work?
